CURRICULUM

Our curriculum focuses on social/emotional growth which research has proven is one of the most important skills a child needs to be successful in school and life. Children also learn problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Research shows that today, more than ever, children need a mix of diverse skills. At Marion Daycare & Learning Center, we ensure your child receives a first-class early learning environment where they can thrive. By providing a rich, joyous learning environment with emphasis in social and academic growth through developmentally appropriate play, your child will gain knowledge and confidence necessary to make a successful transition from preschool to kindergarten and elementary school with social-emotional, critical-thinking, and academic skills.

AGES TWO THRU FIVE

Children ages two through five focuses on problem solving, self-help, and decision making. Our curriculum includes art, music, science, nature, manipulative toys, outdoor play, and much more. Our environment is designed to stimulate young minds and is a FUN place to be. While it is important for children to be free spirited and creative, it is equally important for them to learn from others through basic guidance and instruction. We encourage them to express their thoughts with confidence while respecting the feelings of others. Research shows that young children learn best in a nurturing, child-initiated, play-based environment that fosters self-confidence, trust, creativity, autonomy, decision making, social interaction and acceptance of individual differences and are actively engaged in activities in which they are interested.

 PLAY

A single curriculum does not address all the different areas of learning. We combine and use methods from many types of curriculum to meet the needs of all children. Play is an essential part of every child’s life and is vital for the enjoyment of childhood as well as social, emotional, intellectual and physical development. We provide hands on activities that stimulate natural curiosity and each child’s individual creativity. We do this with dramatic play, music/movement, math, science, and circle time. We also encourage early literacy, positive self-image, social emotional development, and a family friendly program. Our outdoor play area offers an imaginative atmosphere where your child can be a pirate on a pirate ship, a helicopter pilot, a farmer on a tractor, or even a train engineer. Kids can climb slide structures, ride trikes and other wheel toys designed to develop the children's physical skills, motor skills, creativity and coordination. Play is the business of childhood and is essential to the physical, cognitive, creative, social and emotional development of every kid. It’s how kids build strong muscles and healthy bodies; it’s how they learn problem-solving, conflict resolution and creativity; it’s how they make friends and build strong bonds with adults. Play is critical to a kid’s ability to thrive.
